I sure cried today.

Well, the day is almost over. The celebration of life for Dustan was beautiful. The musicians were great. I don’t personally know the girl that sang, but she did so good. And hearing Jonathan Roberts sing again was awesome. He is very talented and touches my heart so much. Mrs. Christensen is always amazing. She is so comfortable speaking in front of people. It seems like the words just flow from God, to her heart, and out through her mouth. I am very blessed to have been able to experience today at Dustan’s ceremony. I will be forever changed. Dustan even touched my heart to heal a relationship that had kinda been struggling with a friend. It just feels better to have any and all negative feelings out of my heart. I am just so happy to have been able to know Dustan and to be friends with his wonderful family - even his extended family, they are all so great!

My husband cried (a lot) during the ceremony. I never see him cry - EVER! Just shows how touching this really was. (Sorry I’m blogging again about you, sweetie!)

I still have the deep desire in my heart to make sure Dustan is remembered by something permanent. I haven’t really told anyone this yet, but I’m going to go ahead and put it out there. I really want our new gym to be the “Gammon Field House” or the “Dustan Gammon Gym” or something to that nature. I know it will be a while before it is even built, but that gives us time to plan! I imagine the name in stone above the entrance and then just on the inside a huge picture of Dustan right above the gym entrance. It may or may not ever happen, but it’s my wish. I’ve spoken about it to someone on the committee that is handling it and they thought it was a good idea as well. Dustan just really touched so many people at our school and even in our community.

I just looked down on my desk and one of my twins (Casey) has drawn a cross on my notepad and it says, “In Memory, Dustan” on it. How sweet is that? She has such a big heart! When she earns money, she’s looking for somewhere to donate it. I have awesome kids. Again, very blessed.

Well, I’m headed to pick up some Whitt’s for the Gammons and take it to their house. If any of you reading this would like to help with food over the next couple of weeks, please let me know and we’ll set something up.

Over the next several weeks all of our lives will somewhat get back to normal. I’d like to ask that even at that time keep in mind the things that you learned from Dustan. Remember to show your faith and your love for God. Also, try to figure out what your purpose is. How are you being a tool for God? Continue to pray for the entire Gammon family. They will need your prayers so much during the weeks and months to come. And, Dylan, we all love you and want to just squeeze you so hard! Please do not hesitate to ask us (your school family) for anything that you might need…we are SO here for you.

Oh, and I did take pictures today at the beautiful burial, with the Gammon’s permission. They wanted pictures also. Several people released red balloons into the air as the vault was lowered into the ground…it was VERY moving. It felt like Dustan’s spirit racing off towards the Heavens. I’ll load those onto the website (again, with their permission) later.

I hope you all have a great evening. Again, on behalf of the Gammon family, thank you for your amazing support over the last several days and months and in advance for future prayer for their family. I thank God for each and every one of them.

Today I am thankful for God putting Dustan Gammon in the path of my life so that I could be forever blessed by his teachings. I am also thankful for my school family and friends. We always hold each other up during hard times.

My picture of the day is of the balloons being released at Dustan’s burial. It was so moving.
